My Story

A man wearing glasses and a blue t-shirt is grilling vegetables on a portable gas grill outdoors near a lake, with trees in the background.

I’m Spencer Bott, the founder of Bott’s Blackened Blend. I was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale and now live in Fort Myers, where this whole idea started in my own kitchen.

During a weight loss journey, I began incorporating more fish into my diet. I wanted to eat healthier, but I still wanted meals that tasted great and gave me something to look forward to.

At the time, I was seasoning everything by shaking on one ingredient after another. Garlic. Paprika. Pepper. More spices. More bottles. Making one piece of fish started to feel like a full pantry operation.

Eventually, I thought there had to be an easier way.

So I combined everything into one bottle and made a seasoning blend for myself. It was never supposed to become a business. I just wanted one bottle I could keep in the pantry and reach for whenever I wanted to make a healthy, delicious meal.

Then I started sharing it with friends.

They liked it, kept using it, and encouraged me to make more. What began as one bottle in my pantry slowly started becoming something bigger.

The custom caricature labels came later as a way to commemorate the trips and memories surrounding our wedding. For my bachelor party, I created personalized bottles for my groomsmen inspired by our fishing trip in Key Largo. For my wife’s bridesmaids, I created bottles inspired by their trip to Naples and Fort Myers, filled with resort-style living, beach days, and time spent together.

Each caricature included little touches inspired by that person’s personality, hobbies, memories, and inside jokes. The bottles became more than gifts. They were keepsakes that captured the people and stories behind those trips.

They loved the seasoning, but they also loved what the bottles represented. The caricatures made people laugh, brought back memories, and turned a simple bottle of seasoning into something worth keeping.

Bott’s Blackened Blend is also inspired by the connection between the outdoors and the food we put on the table. There is something special about preparing a meal from fish or game harvested responsibly from the wild. It is some of the freshest, highest-quality food available, but it also comes with a responsibility to respect the resource, appreciate where the meal came from, and make the most of it.

To me, honoring the harvest means turning it into a meal worth sharing with the people you care about.

Today, Bott’s Blackened Blend is a small-batch seasoning made to help people cook flavorful food without making things complicated. The custom labels celebrate the people, stories, trips, traditions, and inside jokes that make those meals memorable.

What started as one bottle in my pantry is now becoming a real business, and I’m excited to share the seasoning I love and the custom caricatures that make people smile.

Catch it. Cook it. Share it.
